The IBM Sametime WebPlayer is a browser plug-in that is required for using Sametime Web Meetings features such as audio/video conferencing, as well as the Screen Share and Screen Capture features in web chats.

Note: Only 32-bit browser are supported.
IBM Sametime WebPlayer Installation Scope

Notes:
· When installation is run at the USER scope, only that installation’s user profile will be able to run the WebPlayer. Other users on the same computer will need to install the WebPlayer plug-in using their own accounts.
· When installation is run at the MACHINE scope, all Windows user accounts on that computer will be able to use the WebPlayer, which will be downloaded silently to each user’s profile location on their first use of features.
· The feature plug-in’s download URL must be whitelisted, and it must allow for internal/external users to access the plugin download/upgrade as required.
Installation Steps
USER scope installation:
Windows
Follow the steps below to install the Sametime WebPlayer at the USER scope on Windows:
Option 1:
1. Open a browser.
2. Navigate to the URL where the WebPlayer is stored.
3. Double-click and then follow the installation instructions.
Option 2:
1. Start the Windows command prompt.
2. Navigate to the location where the WebPlayer is stored.
3. Run one of the following commands:
o GUI mode: setup.exe /S /V"/Lvx* WebPlayer.log "
o Silent mode: setup.exe /S /V"/Lvx* WebPlayer.log /qn "
OS X
Follow the steps below to install the Sametime WebPlayer at the USER scope on OS X:
1. From your Downloads folder, open the STWebPlayer.dmg file.
2. From the “Sametime Web AV Plugin Installer” window, open the sametime-webplayer.mpkg file.
3. Double-click and then follow the installation instructions.
MACHINE scope installation:
Follow the steps below to install the Sametime WebPlayer at the MACHINE scope on Windows:
1. Start the Windows command prompt with the "Run as Administrator" option.
2. Navigate to the location where the WebPlayer is stored.
3. Run one of the following commands:
o GUI mode: setup.exe /S /V"/Lvx* WebPlayer.log INSTALLSCOPE=machine "
o Silent mode: setup.exe /S /V"/Lvx* WebPlayer.log /qn INSTALLSCOPE=machine "
Uninstalling the Sametime WebPlayer
Windows
Follow the steps below to uninstall the Sametime WebPlayer on Windows:
Option 1
1. Click
Start Control Panel Programs and Features.
2. Select IBM Sametime WebPlayer and then click Uninstall.
3. Follow the steps to remove set-up files.
Option 2
1. Navigate to location where desktop/stand-alone installer (setup.exe) is downloaded
2. Double click, it will provide option to “Modify” or “Remove” setup files
3. Select “Remove” and follow uninstallation steps.
Option 3
1. Start the Windows command prompt.
2. Navigate to location where the WebPlayer is stored.
3. Run the following command: setup.exe -x /S /V"/Lvx* WebPlayer.log /qn "
OS X
Follow the steps below to uninstall the WebPlayer on OS X:
Option 1
1. Navigate to the location: $HOME/Library/Application Support/IBM/Sametime Webplayer
2. Provide the executable permission to the Uninstall.sh file.
3. Run the Uninstall.sh file.
4. Type y on the console and press Enter.
Option 2
1. Navigate to the location: $HOME/Library/Application Support/IBM/
2. Remove the Sametime Webplayer folder.
3. Navigate to the location: $HOME/Library/Internet Plug-ins/
4. Remove the NPRTPlugin.webplugin file.

Troubleshooting Guidelines
Use the following guidelines to resolve WebPlayer installation issues.
Problem:
Firefox extension is showing as disabled and repeatedly prompting for WebPlayer installation>
Solution:
Download the HF#SMOL-A9WE66 fix and deploy it on Sametime servers.
Problem:
WebPlayer upgrade prompted even after installing the latest WebPlayer fix.
Solution:
Sync the WebPlayer version to 9,0,0,1523 at all WebPlayer distribution locations including Sametime Proxy Server, Sametime Meeting Server, and any alternate hosting servers (if configured).
Follow the steps below:
1. On the Sametime Proxy Server, update the config file <WebSphere_Install_Location
/AppServer/profiles/<
Profile_Name
/installedApps/<

/SametimeProxy.ear/stwebav.war/VersioInfo.properties
and change the WebPlayer version to 9,0,0,1523
2. On the Sametime Proxy Server, update the config file <WebSphere_Install_Location

4. On the Sametime Meeting Server, update the config file /AppServer/profiles//installedApps//Sametime/Meeting/Server.ear/meeting.stplugins.war/pluginInfo.js
and change the WebPlayer version to 9,0,0,1523
5. On the Sametime Meeting Server, update the config file

6. After updating the WebPlayer version, restart the Sametime Proxy Server and the Sametime Meeting server.
Problem:
WebPlayer installation prompted even after installation was completed using setup.exe
Solution:
Make sure that the correct desktop/stand-alone (setup.exe) installer is used for installation. The Sametime On-Premises WebPlayer can be found at the following location (from where browser is downloading):
- Sametime Meeting Server: <WebSphere_Install_Location

Note: If you have deployed Sametime On-Premises but your users download the Connections Social Cloud WebPlayer instead, those users will be prompted repeatedly to install the WebPlayer plugin.
